Pollution de l’air à l’intérieur des habitations et la santé
Principaux faits:
- Environ 3 milliards de personnes font la cuisine et chauffent leur logement à l’aide de foyers ouverts ou de simples poêles utilisant du kérosène ou de la biomasse (bois, déjections animales, résidus agricoles) et du charbon.
- Chaque année, plus de 4 millions de personnes meurent prématurément de maladies imputables à la pollution de l’air domestique due à la cuisine à base de combustibles solides et du kérosène
- La pollution de l’air à l’intérieur des habitations est responsable de maladies non transmissibles, AVC, cardiopathies ischémiques, bronchopneumathies, chroniques obstructives (BPCO) et cancers pulmonaires.
- Prés de la moitié des décès par pneumonie chez l’enfant de moins de 5 ans sont dus à l’inhalation des matières particulaires provenant de la pollution de l’air intérieur.
